D&G Headquarters by Studio Piuarch

The new Dolce&Gabbana Headquarters, designed by Studio Piuarch, is composed by two buildings from the 20’s and 60’s in the center of Milan. The National Grand Theater located in Beijing, China, is composed by an opera, a concert hall and two theaters joined under a titanium and glass shell that covers the public area. NU Architectuuratelier projected this building with a double function: an advertising agency today with scope for conversion to housing tomorrow. This called for an open, flexible layout. Set on a white concrete plinth, the black sculpture is reminiscent of a modern villa, yet the north-light roof construction has the character of industrial architecture.
