Boolean by Torafu Architects

Torafu Architects designed Boolean, an interior installation for the cafe space located at the entrance of the Faculty of Medicine Experimental Research Building in the University of Tokyo.

At first the place was just a waiting room with a vending machine and covered with hard materials such as stone. In order to create a warmer space they used two L-shaped wooden objects placed in a different orientation, one as a partition wall and the other for a bench.

Cutting circles out of the partition wall and the bench, as if a floating sphere burst and made holes on contact with them, the place feels more open providing a new perspective form which to view everyday life.
