NOHO Loft by Slade Architecture

The NOHO Loft, located in New York, was designed by Slade Architecture for an active, young couple with a strong professional interest in photography. In addition to the typical needs, they also wanted a fixed workspace, complete with light table and flat files.

The public parts of the project provide a series of specific functional zones while maintaining the open loft design feel. The existing spatial envelope offered beautiful, high ceiling but limited light, as all the windows are located on one perimeter wall. Partial height or translucent walls perpendicular to the windows were used whenever possible in order to bring the natural light deep into the apartment and the different functional areas.
