Beauparlant Design designed the Sant’Urbano Spa to control and mitigate each user’s experience through the space. The spa is located along a busy commercial street in downtown Toronto, designed to give customers an opportunity to escape the bustle of the street.
Simultaneously, the challenge of dividing the required functions within the spa was just as important, using colour as an indicator of program. The colours and textures used to finish the space represent the intentions of the owners; to create a serene and yet lively atmosphere encouraging repose.
The narrow floor plan calls for a very efficient use of space and division between circulation and activity. The space is punctuated by elements that guide each user through the narrow plan. Subtle variations in colour, texture and details signal the transition between public, semi-private and privates spaces as users move through and use the space.
