It’s time again for the Fallas!
That means mascletas, fireworks, music and color in every corner of the city of Valencia until March 19th.
For those who are not familiar whit this festival…
It all starts on March 1st with the first mascleta (an explosion of firecrackers) in front of the City Hall. This event is repeated every day until March 19th.
Sunday 15th was the Planta, when they raise the impressive Fallas monuments in almost every puplic square and crossroads of the city.
The biggest and most spectacular event is the floral offering to the Virgen de los Desamparados on 17th and 18th where the members of the Fallas wear their marvellous traditional costumes and carry bunches of flowers as an offering.
At midnight on 19th, the dramatic closing act takes place. All the fallas, except one ninot, are set alight and burnt.
You can follow the different events at Hola Valencia Blog, written in English.
See you all next week!
